What is Diabetes (Diabetes )
In general , diabetes ( diabetes mellitus) is a disease caused by the high sugar content in the blood. Normally , blood glucose levels are controlled by the pancreas that produce the hormone insulin.
In diabetes ( diabetes mellitus) due to lack of insulin it makes it difficult to produce sugar in the blood and also affect the internal cells to provide energy .
However, there are two types of diabetes (diabetes mellitus ), the diabetes type I and type II . Diabetes type I ( Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus ) caused by the failure of insulin production by the pancreas gland or no direct revenue .
Usually , people with diabetes type I started to get symptoms of the disease during the period of adolescence or before the age of 40. Deck the failure of insulin production by the body, patients require insulin injections and treatment to control blood glucose levels.
Type II diabetes occurs when the body does not produce insulin or does not use the hormone insulin properly. Common among individuals aged 40 years and above .
In addition to medications and insulin injections , Executive Director of LIFE , Assoc. Datuk Mustaffa Embong recommended that diabetics eat a balanced diet , lose weight and exercise.
